HEALTHPOINT MISSION HERITAGE TPC grew steadily and was ultimately sold in 1966 to the Warner Lambert Company. Warner-Lambert used the San Antonio facility to manufacture Lubriderm and other products. In 1979, Alcon Laboratories, a subsidiary of Nestlé, acquired TPC from Warner-Lambert. In 1988, the facility became off-strategy for Alcon, and Alcon announced its intention to sell or close the San Antonio site. Recognizing its inherent value from technical and manufacturing standpoints, DFB Pharmaceuticals (Healthpoint’s parent company) purchased the San Antonio facility in late 1990. The strategy behind the purchase was to provide contract-manufacturing services and to leverage the organization’s technical capabilities to develop and market unique products to the healthcare industry. In 1992, DFB created Healthpoint to market such technologies. Products initially included wound care, incontinent care, and skin care lines sold to hospitals and long-term care facilities. This flagship division became known as Tissue Management. Today, Healthpoint Tissue Management is considered an innovative leader in the advanced wound care marketplace. In 1996, Healthpoint acquired a line of products from Galderma providing critical mass to enter the dermatology market. Today, Healthpoint Dermatology enjoys a rich pharmaceutical pipeline that positions it for substantial growth. In 2002, Healthpoint formed a Surgical division to launch a platform of products based on a patented antiseptic technology. With our rich heritage, strong business performance, and a keen eye on the future, Healthpoint remains uniquely committed to the development and marketing of innovative, quality products for the prevention and treatment of diseased and traumatized skin and related soft tissue. |
